Protect your Personal Information
  1. In response to any calls or SMS or email, ONLY call the contact number at the back of your card.
  2. Consider signing up for Mobile Banking which allow you to monitor your account activity at any time anywhere.
  3. Check SMS alerts and transaction activities on your statements or via BOC Mobile Banking frequently. In case of any unusual activity detected, call the contact number at the back of your card immediately.
  4. Set your preferred transaction limit. Transaction limit can be pre-set or revise at any time via Mobile Banking – ONLY applicable to Great Wall International Debit Card.
  5. ONLY activate overseas transaction and Card-Not-Present function when necessary.
  1. Take instruction from anyone to share your Transaction Authorization Code (TAC) or change your mobile number on ATM to any number other than your own mobile number.
  2. Share your card number or User ID or PIN or TAC when phone scam fraudsters deploy fear tactics on the phone and role-play to tempt you to share.
  3. Always set transaction limit to the maximum.
  4. Always enable overseas transaction and Card-Not-Present function as active.
Safeguarding your Cards and PIN
  1. Keep your card and PIN safe and secure by locking at secure place or carrying it with you.
  2. While entering your PIN at any ATM or at any Point-Of-Sale (POS) terminal, cover the keypad with your another hand.
  3. Ensure correct card returned after payment.
  1. Use easy to guess personal information as PIN (e.g. birth date, anniversary date and etc.)
  2. Write down your PIN anywhere easily accessible.
  3. Disclose your PIN to any other person.
Alert on performing Online Purchase
  1. Use familiar or secured websites. Start at a trusted site rather than shopping with a search engine.
  2. Look for site with secure sockets layer (SSL) encryption installed; URL for the site will start with https://.
  1. Use public computer to make online purchase as the security is often low.
  2. Perform online purchase from a site without secure sockets layer (SSL).
