The Basic Current Account is a Ringgit Malaysia with statement-based current account. This account is a non-interest bearing account.

Eligibility

Malaysian citizens or permanent residents who fulfil any of the following criteria:

1. Individuals aged 60 years and above (senior citizens); or

2. Individuals aged 18 years and above who are –

  • Persons with disabilities (not limited to Orang Kurang Upaya (OKU) card issued by relevant authorities under the Malaysian Government to affirm a person is disabled.)
  • Individuals who do not have income or are in the lower income category;
  • Not digitally savvy or reside in areas with poor internet connectivity; 

Required Documents

Account Opening Documents
  1. Valid National Registration Identity Card (NRIC) such as MyKad; and/or
  2. Other supporting documents such as driving licence, passport, Orang Kurang Upaya (OKU) Card etc.
  3. One of the Residential / Permanent / Correspondence address must be same with NRIC, otherwise one of the following applicant's supporting document must be provided:
    • A current utility bill; or 
    • Stamped tenancy agreement; or
    • Latest bank statement; or
    • Latest telecommunication bills.  

Note:

The list is not exhaustive. The Bank may require applicant to submit additional documents on a case-to-case basis.
