ATM Fraud

 

Fraudsters use card to fraudulently withdraw fund from the victim’s account.

Type of ATM Fraud

• Skimming - A device or pinhole camera being placed over the card slot to capture data from the card’s magnetic stripe.
• ATM Key Logging - Keypad overlay fitted on top of the legitimate pin pad to record card’s PIN.
• Card or Cash Trapping - ATM's card reader is tampered with the intention to trap customer's card or cash. The fraudster will remove the card or cash once customer walked away from the ATM.

How to protect yourself?

• If you notice any strange objects fixed to the ATM, do not use the ATM and report it immediately to Bank of China.
• If you have already started a transaction, cancel it immediately.
• If your card is trapped in the ATM, inform Bank of China immediately.
