Beware of Malicious Smartphone Application

Scammers may deceive victims into downloading malicious application/ software of law enforcement agencies e.g. Police Diraja Malaysia (PDRM), Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri Malaysia (LHDN) or Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) via a link given through phone calls, emails, or SMS.

Once the victim installed the malicious application/ software, it will automatically be set as default, replacing the original messaging application in the phone. Subsequently, it allows scammers access to the same SMS that the victim received without the victim’s knowledge.
