As part of our continuous efforts to enhance and to provide you a safe and secured banking experience with us, we will be introducing the following features with effect from 30 June 2025:
1. Malware Shielding Capability
You might not realize that you had downloaded apps that may contain malware which may allow scammers to take control of your mobile device, monitor your mobile device activities, access to your personal details and even make unauthorized transactions.
To strengthen the security of your mobile banking experience, we are introducing a malware shield feature in our app. This malware shield will actively detect any malicious apps or suspicious activities on your device while the app is running. If a potential risk is detected, the malware shield will temporarily suspend the app from operating to protect your account and data. Once you close the app, this feature will be automatically deactivated.
In order to continue, you may turn off or stop using screen sharing and recording features while using our app. This is to prevent your banking data from being exposed. Rest assured, we do not monitor your phone’s activity.
A revised privacy notice will be made available for your consent.
2. Transaction Cooling Off Period
When we detected abnormal transaction, the transaction will be temporarily held and go through 12 hours cooling off period. The Bank will contact you for transaction verification.
Note: For transactions that involve foreign exchange rate, the final exchange rate will be based on the rate after the cooling off period.
3. Add new payee before transfer
Add a new payee before making a transfer. A 1-hour cooling off period will apply for added security.
Other than the enhancements that we will be making as stated above, here are some of fraud prevention features or tips that we have implemented for you.
1. Quick Lock
If you suspect fraud, activate the Quick Lock in your mobile banking app to freeze your account immediately.
2. Cooling Off Period
A 12-hour waiting period applies when:
• Activating your BOC Soft Token
• Requesting a higher transaction limit
3. In-App Debit Card Transaction Authenticate
Authenticate your Debit Card online purchases securely through in-app approval.
4. Always Keep Your App Updated
Always keep your mobile banking app updated. You may be required to update to the latest app version to continue using mobile banking services.
5. Minimum requirement of mobile operating system and web browser
Ensure your mobile operating system and browsers are up to date to maintain a secure banking environment.
Minimum requirement of mobile operating system:
IOS : Version 15 or higher
Android : Version 12 or higher
Minimum requirement web browser:
a. Google Chrome – Version 119 and above
b. Microsoft Edge – Version 119 and above
c. Mozilla Firefox – Version 115 and above
d. Opera – Version 101 and above
e. Apple Safari – Version 16 and above
