- Store your financial document and bank card in a safe location.
- Never provide your password, PIN and token over the phone, email or SMS.
- Shred documents that contain confidential information before discarding.
- Monitor your account activities and review your CCRIS report regularly.
- Check your account balances and statement regularly to spot any unusual activity quickly.
- Never share your password, PIN, OTP or token details with anyone, including someone claiming to be from bank, police, court, National Scam Response Centre (NSRC) or government.
- Visit our website regularly to read the latest security tips and updates.
- Block suspicious contact number that requests for your personal information including banking credential.
- Always contact official contact number for enquiries.
- Always keep your bank card and e-token device safe to prevent unauthorised access.
- Report lost or stolen cards immediately.
- Use a complex password e.g. password consists of upper and lower case letters, numbers and special characters.
- Change your password periodically.
- Cover the keypad while entering your password at public area.
- Do not click on any link, open attachment, or respond to email and SMS from unknown sender.
- Do not access your bank account through public networks.
- Update Bank of China when there is amendment in your contact details.
- Avoid installing program or application from untrusted sources.
- Always keep anti-virus, anti-malware software and devices updated.
- Check SMS transaction alerts in a timely manner.
- Always log out and clear internet cache when you have completed your banking activity.
- PDRM, BNM. LHDN or any other government department will never conduct investigation over the phone.
- Do not transfer money to unfamiliar company or persons.
- If you receive an unusual request via SMS or email from a friend, contact your friend directly to verify the authenticity of the request.
- Please note that Bank of China Malaysia Berhad will only uses the following Designated SMS short codes to send notifications to our personal banking customers via SMS:63063, 68886, 63001 and 61128.Customers should stay vigilant if received an SMS from a number other than aforementioned short codes.
What should you do if you suspect that you’re a victim of scam/ fraud?
- Contact Bank of China immediately at +603 2059 5566.
- Alternatively, you may contact National Scam Response Centre hotline at 997 if you having difficulties in contacting our bank.
- Report scam / fraud to the law enforcement agency.
- Keep all records such as ATM receipts, transaction receipts etc.
